Piot earned his first U.S. Open start by capturing the 121st U.S. Amateur last August with a 2-and-1 victory over Austin Greaser at Oakmont Country Club. He became the first person from Michigan to hoist the Havemeyer Trophy. The Canton, Mich., resident just completed his senior season at Michigan State University, where in the 2020-21 season, he posted the lowest single-season scoring average in program history (71.33). He also was a first-team All-Big 10 selection and honorable-mention All-American. Piot qualified for the 2014 U.S. Junior Amateur and advanced to the Round of 32 in the 2020 U.S. Amateur after earning the No. 2 seed in stroke play at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Last summer, he also won the Golf Association of Michigan Amateur.
