The Little Silver, N.J., resident will make his U.S. Open debut after shooting 3-under-par 137 at the 36-hole final qualifier in Purchase, N.Y. at Century and Old Oaks Country Clubs. Gotterup, who also survived local qualifying at Hollywood Golf Club in Deal, N.J., is coming off an All-American season at Oklahoma, where he was named the Fred Haskins Award winner for being the nation's top collegiate golfer. He posted a pair of victories in 12 events in leading the Sooners to the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. His season stroke average was an impressive 69.77. Gotterup previously spent four seasons at Rutgers University, where he was the Big 10 Player of the Year for the 2019-20 season. In 2019, he won the Metropolitan Golf Association Amateur, and he is a past MGA and New Jersey State Golf Association Player of the Year. Gotterup turned professional after the NCAA Championships and compete in this past week's RBC Canadian Open on a sponsor's exemption prior to coming to The Country Club.
