The Oklahoma State graduate will compete in his first U.S. Open after posting 4-under 136 at Springfield (Ohio) Country Club. He also survived local qualifying at Illini Country Club. Stevens owns one professional victory on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica (2021 Holcim Colombia Classic). He currently is a member of the Koren Ferry Tour. He is a third-generation tour pro. His grandfather, Johnny, made 30 PGA Tour starts in the 1960s and his father, Charlie, had two Korn Ferry Tour starts in 1992. He helped Kansas win the USGA Men's State Team Championship in 2010 at Mayacama Golf Club. Sam's lone top 10 in 2022 is a T-7 in the AdventHealth Championship. At OSU, he was a member of the 2018 NCAA title team. He became the third member of his family to win the Kansas Amateur (2015), following his grandfather (1960-61) and father (2010).
