Sugiyama, a member of the Japan Golf Tour, will make his first U.S. Open start after earning medalist honors in Final Qualifying at Caledonian Golf Club in Chiba, Prefecture, Japan. Sugiyama posted rounds of 69-66 for a 36-hole total of 9-under-par 135. Sugiyama owns one victory on the JGT since turning professional in 2015. That came in the 2021 Bridgestone Open.
