The South African will make his fourth U.S. Open start after qualifying for the season-ending Tour Championship. Van Rooyen registered his first PGA Tour title at the 2021 Barracuda Championship. He attended the University of Minnesota before turning professional in 2013. In 2019, he collected his first European Tour (now DP World Tour) victory at the Scandanavian Invitation. He also has collected one win apiece on the European Challenge Tour and Sunshine Tour. His best finish in a major is a tie for eighth in the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage State Park.
