Silverman will play in his first U.S. Open -- and first major championship -- after shooting 9-under-par 133 in final qualifying held at Royal Oaks and Lakewood country clubs in Dallas, Texas. The Canadian owns one professional win, the 2017 Price Cutter Charity Championship on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour). Silverman attended Johnson & Wales University as a walk-on for two years before transferring to Florida Atlantic University, also as a walk-on for his final two seasons. Silverman, who carried a 12 handicap after graduating high school before honing his skills for a year to get good enough to play in college, claimed gold in the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Israel, while helping Team Canada to a bronze medal.
