The Columbus, Ohio, native and Ohio State alum successfully navigated the Springfield (Ohio) Country Club final qualifier for a second consecutive year, shooting 4-under 136. He grew up just a few blocks from Jack Nicklaus' boyhood home and was the 2006 Ohio Player of the Year, and individual medalist on Upper Arlington High's Division I state title team. His 2019 victory at the WinCo Foods Portland Open in Oregon earned Hoag his PGA Tour card for the 2020-21 season. At his hometown Memorial Tournament in 2021, he tied for 13th and then had a T-11 in the Barbasol Championship for his best two finishes.
