The Canadian will make his first U.S. Open start after surviving a 6-for-2 playoff in final qualifying at Royal Oaks and Lakewood country clubs in Dallas, Texas. Sloan posted a 7-under total of 135 over 36 holes, then birdied the second playoff hole to earn his trip to The Country Club. Sloan, who was born in Calgary and raised in Merritt, British Columbia, played collegiately at the University of Texas-El Paso. Since turning professional in 2009, Sloan has registered one victory on PGA Tour Canada (The Western Championship in 2011) and another on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) at the 2014 Nova Scotia Open. He was involved in a six-man playoff at the 2021 Wyndham Championship, an event won by Kevin Kisner. That is his best finish to date on the PGA Tour.
