A last-minute alternate to the field, Kizzire is making his third U.S. Open start, and first since the 2019 championship at Pebble Beach. Kizzire was the odd man out of a 3-for-2 playoff for the final spots in the Roswell, Ga., final qualifier held at Ansley Golf Club's Settindown Creek Course. The former Auburn University standout owns a pair of PGA Tour victories: the 2018 Sony Open in Hawaii in a playoff over James Hahn and the 2017 OHL Classic at Mayakoba by one stroke over Rickie Fowler. In 2018, he captured the QBE Shootout with partner Brian Harman. Kizzire also won a pair of Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) events in 2015. He was born in Montgomery, Ala., but grew up in the shadows of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, yet chose to play for rival Auburn, where he won the 2007 Southeastern Conference title. He turned professional in 2008 after earning a business degree. At 6 foot 5, Kizzire is one of the tallest players on the PGA Tour.
