The former UCLA standout returns for an eighth U.S. Open start after qualifying at Woodmont Country Club's North Course in Rockville, Md. Chappell shot 3-under 141. Chappell enjoyed success early on at the U.S. Open, finishing tied for third in his first start 11 years ago. He also tied for 10th at The Olympic Club in 2012. His lone PGA Tour win to date is the 2017 Valero Texas Open. He also has one victory on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour). Chappell played on the victorious 2017 United States Presidents Cup Team and was a member of the 2008 USA Palmer Cup Team. Besides his two U.S. Open top-10s, he finished tied for sixth in The Open Championship in 2018 and tied for seventh in the 2017 Masters.
