Mueller qualified for his second U.S. Open, where he played his first a decade ago. The volunteer men's golf coach at Grand Canyon University returned to The Olympic Club on June 6 and posted 6-under 136 on the Ocean Course to garner one of the five spots. He played the Lake Course in the 2012 U.S. Open, tying for 51st. He played collegiately at Arizona State from 2001-05, qualifying for a U.S. Amateur and being named the Arizona Golf Association's Player of the Year for 2001. He owns 24 professional victories, including the Hawaii Open and Hawaii Pearl Open. He also had two separate stints on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour). This year, Mueller collected his biggest victory, the PGA Professional Championship at Barton Creek in Austin, Texas, which earned him a spot in the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club.
