USGA Joe Dey Award

Presented annually since 1996, the Joe Dey Award recognizes an individual's meritorious service to the game as a volunteer. It is named for Joseph C. Dey Jr., who served as the USGA's executive director from 1934-69 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1975.

Past recipients include Clyde Luther, Joe Luigs, Bill Dickey, Bob Hooper, Gene McClure, Michael Cumberpatch, Inez Muhleman, Pearl Carey and Jayne Watson. This year's recipient, Lee Coble, has volunteered at more than 30 championships in addition to serving as the 34th president of the Virginia State Golf Association.
