List will make his sixth U.S. Open start after getting inside the top 60 of the Official World Golf Ranking as of June 6. His tie for 26th at the Memorial Tournament was enough to move him from No. 61 to No. 59. In January, List broke through to win his first PGA Tour event, the Farmers Insurance Classic at Torrey Pines in his 206th start. He shot a final-round 66 and then defeated Will Zalatoris in a playoff. List also owns a pair of Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) wins, the last coming at the 2020 Korn Ferry Challenge. List was the runner-up to Ryan Moore in the 2004 U.S. Amateur at Winged Foot, which earned him starts in the 2005 U.S. Open and Masters. He played collegiately at Vanderbilt University. In 2005, he also won the Jones Cup Invitational. He twice represented the USA in the Palmer Cup (2006 and 2007).
