Became the first Italian-born golfer to claim a major title when he posted a two-stroke victory in the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie. Paired with nine-time USGA champion Tiger Woods, Molinari carded a final-round 69 on the challenging layout. In 2019, he held the 54-hole lead at The Masters Tournament, but shot a final-round 73 to finish tied for second behind Woods. A month earlier, Molinari claimed his 10th worldwide victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. The younger brother of Edoardo Molinari, the 2005 U.S. Amateur champion, also won the 2017 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, the European Tour's flagship event. Molinari has represented Europe on three Ryder Cup teams, including the 2012 Matches with brother Edoardo. In 2018, he posted a 5-0-0 record in Europe's victory in Paris.
