2022 U.S. Open A-Z Fan Guide

The USGA encourages fans to seek autographs but asks that you respect each player’s complete focus on preparing for and playing in the Championship.  Autographs should only be obtained at designated Autograph Zones at the completion of the player’s round. On-course autographs are not permitted at any time. This includes, but is not limited to, tees, fairways, greens and practice areas during practice and championship rounds.

To enhance your experience on-site at The Country Club, the USGA will offer complimentary Wi-Fi powered by Cisco throughout the Championship grounds, including all grandstands, concession areas, Merchandise Pavilions and other large fan gathering areas.

The USGA is committed to providing a positive and user-friendly experience for all fans with disabilities and is pleased to provide the following services:

• Accessible parking spaces for all vehicles having appropriate HD/DP license plates or placards will be reserved at all parking locations.
• The Disability Services Committee will be onsite to assist fans with disabilities, with multi-person golf carts and wheelchair accessible transportation to and from Disability Services Headquarters and specific grandstand and facility locations throughout the golf course via a fixed transportation route with predetermined stops.
• A number of motorized scooters will be available at the Mobility Scooter Tent, located next to Gate 3, Gate 6, and Gate 10 for fans with disabilities, on a first-come, first-served basis, compliments of the USGA and Pride Mobility.
• Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf will be available at the Disability Services Headquarters located near Gate 10.
• Accessible restrooms will be available at the portable restroom locations throughout the Championship grounds.

U.S. Open Junior Experience Featuring First Tee

Taking place at Fisher Hill Reservoir Park, the U.S. Open Junior Experience featuring First Tee will provide a fun and unique golf experience for the community to enjoy the championship free-of-charge. Taking place from Wednesday, June 15 to Saturday June 18, juniors will be able to participate in a variety of games and activities designed to foster a love for the game.

U.S. Open 19th Hole

From Wednesday through Friday of championship week, High Street Place Food Hall will be transformed into the U.S. Open 19th Hole, giving local sports fans a unique way to continue to engage with the championship during and after the end of the broadcast. The 19th Hole will feature games, programming, specials and live podcast and radio recordings with some of the biggest names in golf and Boston sports. Taping schedule is as follows:

• Wednesday, June 15 - The Shotgun Start by The Fried Egg
  • Bar opens at 4 p.m. ET; podcast recording at 6 p.m. ET
• Thursday, June 16 - The Drop Zone by GOLF.com

First-Aid Stations will be located adjacent to Hole 2, Hole 14 and Hole 16. All First-Aid Stations will be staffed with physicians and other licensed practitioners. Complimentary water will be provided at all First-Aid Stations and in other fan centric locations. If a medical emergency arises, please notify a volunteer, security personnel or USGA official.

The U.S. Open Junior Experience in partnership with First Tee is free and open to the public at Fisher Hill Reservoir Park, June 15-18, 2022. No tickets are required to join this experience. First Tee Game Changers Pavilion is an interactive experience inspired by First Tee’s mission to empower young people to become game changers in their communities. Highlights include an “Aim for Greatness” digital target game, the “Winning Path” putting challenge, “Game Changers Are Cool” snow cone station and “A Good Group” personalized photo opportunity. Join us to have your swing recorded with Cisco 4D technology, participate in golf games and activities, relax and watch the championship coverage and more!

Hours of Operation

• Wednesday, June 15 - Friday, June 17: 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Juniors aged 12 and under can request a complimentary Gallery ticket for each round at the Ticket Office when accompanied by a ticketed or credentialed adult. Juniors aged 13-18 accompanied by a ticketed or credentials adult can request a complimentary Gallery ticket at the Ticket Office for practice rounds, and can purchase a discounted Junior Gallery ticket ($50) for championship rounds.  There is a maximum of four (4) Junior tickets regardless of age per ticketed or credentialed adult.

Note: Junior tickets do not provide access into any premium spaces or hospitality areas as specific tickets are required for access into each of those venues.  Discounted Junior premium tickets for all Junior ages for practice rounds, if available, can be purchased for access into premium spaces (The Garden and Trophy Club for $50 per ticket) at the Ticket Office. For championship rounds, if available, discounted Junior premium tickets for all ages can be purchased for access into premium spaces (The Garden and Trophy Club for $100 per ticket) at the Ticket Office.

The USGA encourages fans to capture their favorite moments at our championships and stay connected with family and friends while onsite. We have set guidelines on mobile device usage to ensure our players and other fans are not distracted or disrupted during the championship.  Fans may carry mobile devices smaller than 7” in length and/or height; however, please make sure all device volume controls are set to “silent” or “vibrate” and flash photography is disabled prior to entering the championship gate. Phone calls should be limited to areas away from play and not in any area that may disrupt play, including grandstands. Photography, video, and audio recording are permitted throughout the course, but content must not be used for commercial purposes. Live streaming or shot-by-shot coverage of any player (with or without video) is not permitted at any time throughout championship week.

Conducting a global championship for the best golfers in the world is our primary focus. Violation of any of the above policies may result in immediate expulsion and loss of ticket privileges for the remainder of the Championship.

All paid and complimentary tickets for 2022 USGA Championships will be delivered to recipients digitally via AXS Guest Services (guestservices@axs.com) and accessible via the U.S. Open or AXS mobile app(s).  Mobile tickets will be powered by AXS Mobile ID technology; fans will not be permitted to enter the gates without a Mobile ID digital ticket. Eligible tickets can be transferred utilizing the U.S. Open or AXS mobile app(s) (Mobile Ticket FAQs (usga.org)).

There are limited exceptions and cases in which printed tickets will be acceptable.  Printed tickets are only available on-site at designated Ticket Office or Ticket Resolution areas.

MBTA – Taking the T / Train Service

Avoid traffic and parking by “Taking the T” to the designated U.S. Open train stations! The MBTA (“T”) is the most sustainable, affordable, and convenient transportation option to get to the 2022 U.S. Open Championship. The T is committed to providing safe and comfortable transportation along their Subway, Commuter Rail and Bus lines. Fans are strongly encouraged to visit mbta.com/usopen to plan their trip, view service schedules, station locations, parking availability, fares, and rider accessibility.

The USGA will provide complimentary shuttle transportation to and from the below stations and The Country Club:

• Orange Line – Forest Hills Station: Those traveling from metro-Boston or transferring from the Red or Blue Lines, the Orange Line is the most efficient way to get to the U.S. Open. For those traveling from points west/southwest, the Needham Line Commuter Rail route has a stop at the Forest Hill Station. Once you arrive at Forest Hills Station, follow U.S. Open signage to the upper bus terminal where complimentary U.S. Open shuttle service will be provided to and from the Championship grounds.
• Green Line (B) – Boston College Station: §  Those traveling within the Brookline and Fenway/Kenmore areas utilizing a (B) Line station, are encouraged to take the T to Boston College Station. Once you arrive at Boston College Station, follow U.S. Open signage towards Boston College’s Alumni Stadium shuttle depot area where complimentary U.S. Open shuttle service will be provided to and from the Championship grounds.
• Green Line (C) – Cleveland Circle Station: Those traveling within the Brookline and Fenway/Kenmore areas utilizing a (C) Line station, are encouraged to take the T to Cleveland Circle Station. Once you arrive at the Cleveland Circle Station, follow U.S. Open signage to the Beacon Street shuttle depot where complimentary U.S. Open shuttle service will be provided to and from the Championship grounds.
• Green Line (D) – Reservoir Station: For those traveling from points west/northwest, the Green Line (D) provides the most efficient service from Riverside Station to Reservoir Station. Once you arrive at Reservoir Station, follow U.S. Open signage to the Beacon Street shuttle depot where complimentary U.S. Open shuttle service will be provided to and from the Championship grounds.

The MBTA is offering complimentary parking for U.S. Open fans and volunteers at 100+ MBTA stations. We encourage fans to park at one of the listed facilities and take the Subway, Commuter Rail, or Bus lines to the championship. Please note: There is NO fan parking available at Forest Hills, Boston College, Cleveland Circle, or Reservoir stations. Parking rules, policies, and payment enforcement will remain in effect for non-U.S. Open attendees and daily MBTA commuters..

A limited number of special edition CharlieCards featuring the U.S. Open Trophy and The Country Club are available for U.S. Open fans! Please visit mbta.com/usopen to purchase a 1-day or 7-day pass ahead of the U.S. Open for unlimited bus and subway service during the Championship. All other standard CharlieCard / fare cards will be accepted and are available at fare vending machines at all subway stations.

Parking

The USGA strongly encourages fans to park at and take advantage of the MBTA’s (“T”) public transportation options, as it will be the most convenient option to get to the U.S. Open. For more information on the T, please visit mbta.com/usopen.

The Country Club is located in Brookline, Mass., approximately five miles from downtown Boston. Due to the densely populated and residential nature of The Country Club’s location, the USGA has established satellite fan parking options where complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided to and from the Championship grounds. Given limited capacities at satellite fan parking venues, all parking must be prepaid or reserved in advance of the Championship.

There is NO general fan parking available in the immediate vicinity of The Country Club. All local street parking will be enforceable in accordance with prevailing Brookline ordinances and regulations. Due to local road closures and traffic modifications around The Country Club, ride share services and passenger drop-off will be located at Larz Anderson Park, a ¾-mile walk from The Country Club. 

• Boston College Chestnut Hill (140 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467) - Complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided to and from The Country Club and is expected to take 10-15 minutes.
   

• (37 A Street, Needham, MA 02494) - Complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided to and from The Country Club and is expected to take 15-20 minutes.
  
  
• (140 Kendrick Street, Needham, MA 02494) - Complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided to and from The Country Club and is expected to take 15-20 minutes.
  
  
• UMASS Mount Ida (100 Carlson Avenue, Newton, MA 02459) - Complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided to and from The Country Club and is expected to take 15 minutes. The shuttle will drop-off in close proximity to the Trophy Club.

• Boston College Newton Campus (885 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02459) - Complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided to and from The Country Club and is expected to take 15 minutes. The shuttle will drop-off in close proximity to the Trophy Club.

Parking & Transportation Services for Fans with Disabilities

The USGA is committed to providing a positive and user-friendly experience for all fans with disabilities. Accessible parking spaces for all vehicles displaying the appropriate HD/DP license plates or placards will be reserved at all parking locations. Fans requiring lift-equipped transportation should contact the USGA Admissions Department at tickets@usga.org ahead of the Championship to receive specific parking instructions.

The USGA will provide complimentary lift-equipped shuttle transportation to and from all remote Championship parking lots and the designated MBTA train stations. Furthermore, the Disability Services Committee will be onsite to assist fans with disabilities with multi-person golf cart transportation to and from designated stops and accessible grandstand and facility locations throughout The Country Club.

Ride Share

Fans traveling from points east of The Country Club – and fans who live in the Brookline, Boston, Cambridge, Chestnut Hill areas – are encouraged to take ride share services to Larz Anderson Park. U.S. Open Ride Share and passenger drop-off will only be allowed at the designated area at Larz Anderson Park, accessed via Avon Street, and located within a 10-minute walk to Gate 6.

To avoid traffic restrictions and heavier congestion, fans traveling on I-95 from points west and north and south of Boston – and fans who live in the Newton, Needham, Dedham, Waltham, Wellesley, and Weston areas – are encouraged to take ride share services to Lot X (37 A Street, Needham, MA 02494) where complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided to and from The Country Club.

There is no parking or staging for vehicles at either Ride Share location, so pick-up times will need to be coordinated accordingly. Vehicles proceeding to the Ride Share locations will be instructed to follow directional signs and parking attendants to the appropriate pick-up and drop-off location. Due to traffic restrictions, access is limited to vehicles no larger than a 12-passenger van or limousine. Ride share vehicles are NOT permitted to pick-up or drop-off at any other location around the Championship grounds. All other U.S. Open parking is by permit and parking pass only.

Bicycles

Fans who wish to ride their bicycle to the Championship will be able to do so by following the bicycle signage plan and traffic pattern guidelines. Bike racks will be provided at Larz Anderson Park and Pine Manor College to secure bikes. Owners will be responsible for the security of their bicycles.

Re-entry into the Championship will be permitted. Individuals leaving the property and returning later must have their hands stamped prior to exiting. 

If you observe the following guidelines, your experience at the U.S. Open Championship will be a more enjoyable one:

• Please stay behind gallery ropes and follow directions of championship marshals at all times.
• Only cross fairways at designated crosswalk areas.
• Be considerate of others and kneel or sit if you are in the front row of the gallery.
• Stay quiet and stand still when players are about to hit or when instructed by marshals.
• All mobile device volume controls must be set to silent or vibrate at all times.
• To ensure your safety at all times, walk carefully and never run.
• The U.S. Open Championship involves substantial walking on grass hills, dirt paths, and other uneven surfaces. Please wear appropriate footwear such as sneakers or golf shoes.
• Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.
• To provide protection from the sun, remember to wear sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. Please note that sunscreen in bottles and tubes, 3 ounces or less is permitted. Sunscreen in spray bottles and/or aerosol cans is not permitted.

Practice Rounds

Players will have the option of starting practice rounds at the first or 10^th tee. Practice rounds generally begin between 6:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. It is typical for players to be on the golf course or practice areas until at least 7 p.m.

Championship Rounds 1 & 2

Play is scheduled to begin at 6:45 a.m. from both the 1st and 10th tees.

Thursday, June 16             (Gates open 6 a.m. to conclusion of play)

Friday, June 17                  (Gates open 6 a.m. to conclusion of play)

Championship Rounds 3 & 4

The first starting time will be determined by the number of players who make the cut at the conclusion of the second round (60 lowest scorers and anyone tying for 60th place). Generally, the first pairing begins play from the first tee between 8-9 a.m.

Saturday, June 18             (Gates open 7 a.m. to conclusion of play)

Sunday, June 19                (Gates open 7 a.m. to conclusion of play)

Playoff

If there is a tie for the low score after 72 holes, a two-hole aggregate playoff will begin immediately following play. If the playoff results in a tie after two holes, the tied players will immediately continue the playoff hole-by-hole (sudden death format) until the champion is determined.

Fans and other championship attendees will go through security screening prior to entering the Championship grounds and will not be allowed to bring any of the items listed below. To help expedite admission into the championship, it is recommended that all prohibited items are safely stowed prior to arriving at the championship or parking lot. Please be sure to read the following list of prohibited items carefully.

• No Weapons (regardless of permit, including but not limited to firearms or knives)
• No Explosives and/or Fireworks of any kind
• No Tablets and/or Computers (mobile devices smaller than 7" are permitted, subject to mobile device policy)
• No Drones
• No Selfie Sticks
• No Cameras (point and shoot, film, or DSLR) or Video Cameras (other than Monday through Wednesday for personal use only)
• No Noise-Producing Devices (including portable speakers)
• No Backpacks, Briefcases, Purses and/or Bags larger than 6" W x 6" H x 6" D in their natural state

NOTE: Transparent/clear plastic hand and shoulder bags no larger than 12" W x 12" H x 6" D are permitted.

• No Signs, Posters Banners and/or other Sports Paraphernalia or Memorabilia
• No Food and/or Beverages except for medical or infant needs
• Water Bottles (32-ounce size or less, no glass) are permitted provided they are empty upon arrival
• No Glass, Coolers, Aerosol Cans and/or Spray Bottles except for medical or infant needs

NOTE: Personal-care items (3-ounce size or less) are permitted.

• No Pets (other than service animals as defined by the ADA assisting disabled individuals)
• No Lawn Chairs and/or Oversized Chairs
• No Ladders and/or Step Stools or other similar items
• No Bicycles allowed inside admission areas or on the Championship grounds
• No other items or actions deemed unlawful, dangerous, or disruptive by the USGA and/or Championship Security Personnel, in their sole discretion

The USGA reserves the right to amend the List of Prohibited Items at any time to provide a safe and secure Championship.

The Merchandise Pavilion, covering 24,000 square feet, is located between holes 1 and 18.  It includes over 400,000 logoed items from 45 different brands, including Polo Ralph Lauren, the Official Outfitter of the U.S. Open. Shop one-of-a-kind apparel designs and accessories exclusive to this year’s championship. The Satellite Tent, covering 6,600 square feet, is located players left of hole 14.

For your convenience, a merchandise bag check tent and shipping tent will be located adjacent to the Merchandise Pavilion from Monday, June 13 through Sunday, June 19.

Hours of Operation:

Pre-Championship (Merchandise Pavilion Only)

June 10 - 12 (Friday through Sunday) 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

No ticket is necessary to enter the Merchandise Pavilion during these pre-championship hours. The golf course will be closed to the public. Parking will be located at Dexter Southfield School (20 Newton Street, Brookline, MA 02445). Please follow directional signs for complimentary parking and transportation.

U.S. Open Championship Week

June 13-19 (Monday through Sunday) 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Merchandise Pavilion and the Satellite Tent are located on the Championship grounds. You must have a ticket or credential to gain entry during the championship.

Spectators of USGA Championships, including fans, player guests or support, and any other attendees, are expected to conduct themselves and interact with others in a respectful and courteous manner, with consideration for the physical and emotional well-being of others, and to treat all individuals with a sense of dignity and respect.

Spectators are requested to obey all Championship policies including, but not limited to, those provided on any attendance ticket or credential, all posted signage, and any instructions from Championship marshals and officials, USGA staff and volunteers, and club staff and volunteers.  Spectators are prohibited from engaging in inappropriate behavior (whether on or off the course) towards any players, caddies, marshals, officials, volunteers, fans, USGA or club staff or vendors, or championship guests.  Inappropriate behavior may include, but is not limited to:

• Physical abuse or harassment of any nature
• Verbal or emotional abuse or harassment, threats, or taunting or shouting insults
• Blatant or excessive profanity
• Derogatory, rude, or aggressive conduct
• Damage to the golf course, club facilities or equipment
• Inappropriate use of a mobile device
• Failing to stay behind gallery ropes
• Conduct which is disruptive to competition or distracting to a player
• Conduct which could result in an unfair advantage to a player or disadvantage to another player

Violation of this policy may result in immediate removal from the Championship premises and/or cancellation of a Championship admission ticket or credential without refund, prohibition from attending future USGA Championships, as determined by USGA in its sole discretion. USGA expressly reserves all rights and available under its policies or under the law.

Meteorology staff will be onsite monitoring weather conditions at all times. The USGA will communicate important safety information to fans through special alerts that will appear on all leader boards, thru boards, and video boards. Please read all alerts and follow safety instructions. In general, an alert shown in BLUE or YELLOW is being posted for general awareness while ORANGE indicates that fans should be prepared to take action. An Alert shown in RED poses an imminent threat and will require immediate action as stated in the Alert.

Weather Advisory (BLUE): A Weather Advisory will be posted to alert fans of specific weather conditions that will require certain precautions.

Weather Watch (YELLOW): A Weather Watch may be posted to alert fans that dangerous weather is possible.

Weather Warning (ORANGE): A Weather Warning may be posted to alert fans that dangerous weather is approaching and they should be prepared to take shelter or return to their vehicles.

Weather Warning (RED): A Weather Warning may be posted to alert fans that dangerous weather is imminent, and they should take immediate action to ensure their safety, including exiting all grandstands.

A suspension of play for dangerous conditions will be indicated by one prolonged air-horn blast. In the event of a suspension of play, grandstands will be cleared immediately. If lightning is detected, please avoid open areas, hilltops, high places, isolated trees, golf carts and wire fences, and seek shelter immediately. Play will resume as soon as conditions allow.

Will Call will be located on-site at Gates  5, 6 and 10. Photo identification will be required for any transaction at Will Call.
